My cabinets aren't black, but the walls my kitchen are. It looks great. I'm not sure what the material is, but it's easy to clean. I don't think she cooks because all her "treasured" belongings an open shelving would be oily. Plus she has a bunch of boxed food. Oils should be stored in a dark place.
